First Business promotes entrepreneurship by providing prospective business owners the information they'll need to start their own business.
MoneySmart is an initiative backed by ASIC to promote financial literacy throughout the Australian public. It was founded in 2011 as a consolidation of ASIC's two previous consumer-facing websites, FIDO and Understanding Money. MoneySmart has a series of apps for both iOS and Android covering topics relating to personal finance and budgeting.
MoneySmart approached jtribe to design and develop an app for both iOS and Android devices that would give prospective first business owners the know-how to launch their own enterprise.
The aim was to have a strong collaborative effort and a quick iterative cycle on both platforms. Close collaboration between jtribe and MoneySmart would be the driving force behind the project.
Native solutions for both iOS and Android were engineered, adhering to design guidelines for their respective platforms. A familiar experience for the end user was a primary consideration. To speed up the process, both the iOS and Android teams communicated closely to ensure that the app architecture was similar across both platforms, facilitating sharing of content between Android and iOS and vice versa.
The app offers a health check, business checklist, case studies and networking information that provide vital information about the process and potential pitfalls of starting your own business. Individual sections are accompanied by an introductory video, and supplementary information is provided in the form of bookmarkable hyperlinks that the user can add to a reading list for their own perusal or to email to themselves if they wish to read the information on another device.
